Tesla Roadster powered by… rockets?!

No, we are not kidding!

It was, in fact, Elon Musk himself who revealed it, in yet another tweet published in his official account: according to the mentor and owner of Tesla, the second generation of the sports car Tesla Roadster it will be able to count on the help of propellant rockets, allowing even to increase the performances already promised — less than 2s from 0 to 100 km/h and 400 km/h of maximum speed.

The solution will be part of the recently announced “SpaceX Option Package”, an allusion to the aerospace company that, in addition to developing reusable rockets, recently also placed a Tesla Roadster in orbit.

According to the multimillionaire, this optional pack will provide the sports car with “ten small rockets perfectly arranged around the vehicle”, the publication reads, thus ensuring “a dramatic improvement in acceleration, maximum speed, braking and cornering behavior ”.

“Who knows, maybe they'll even allow Tesla to fly…”, concludes Musk, confirming, in another tweet, that this technology, to be applied in the 100% electric sports car, is the same used in the SpaceX rocket — that is, they will use it as a “fuel” compressed air, stored in a COPV (Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel) tank. And just like in SpaceX rockets they will be reusable.

Tesla Roadster 2020

In other tweets, Elon Musk has also said that “the next generation of the Roadster will be something out of this world”, being that, “particularly for those who like to drive, there is no other car like it in history, nor will there be”.

Finally, just remember that, when the new Tesla Roadster was announced, the entrepreneur put forward a presentation for 2020 and that it would have a base price of 200 thousand euros.
