After the recent news involving the Elon Musk brand, not all for the best reasons, with the production of the Model 3 falling far short of expectations, it seems that in Portugal the brand is going through a good phase. With the first orders for the Tesla Semi truck arriving with UPS and Pepsi ordering around 100 trucks each, and the presentation of the super sports Tesla Roadster capable of going — theoretically — from 0 to 96 km/h in just 1, 9 seconds and reaching a speed in excess of 400 km/h, now arrives in Portugal the first Supercharger station of the brand.
The first Tesla Supercharger (SuC) station, located at the Floresta Fátima Hotel in Fátima, opened today. The location allows customers of the Elon Musk brand to carry their models when traveling between Lisbon and Porto, and it is located next to the A1 highway (Lisbon-Porto), about 2.5 km from exit (8) in Fátima.
The first station includes eight individual Superchargers, allowing up to eight Tesla vehicles to be charged at the same time, providing power at 120 kW, far above the “normal” figure. This “super-fast” charging allows for a short stop to restore sufficient autonomy to reach Lisbon and return to the same location.
For long-distance travel, customers can use Supercharger stations, the world's fastest charging solution, to recharge Tesla vehicles in minutes instead of hours. A Supercharger offers up to 270 kilometers of autonomy in just over 30 minutes.
Additionally, Tesla is expanding its Charge-to-Destination program in Portugal. Tesla has perfected the charging experience by partnering with hotels, resorts and shopping centers to provide Destination Charging points that add up to 80 kilometers of autonomy per hour.
Tesla already has 44 Destination Charging points in Portugal, from Braga to the beaches of the Algarve, in shopping centers, museums, hotels and others.
Additionally, Tesla will open the second season in the country very soon. This Supercharger will be located at L’And Vineyards, Montemor-o-Novo, close to the A6 Motorway, 100 km from Lisbon, 35 km from Évora and 127 km from the border, and will link Lisbon and Portugal to the West of Spain. The capacity will be identical to the first one, allowing charge 8 Tesla branded vehicles simultaneously.
This location will allow you to travel smoothly to the next SuC of the brand, located 197 km away in the neighboring country, in the city of Mérida.
Portugal's network will continue to grow in the coming months, adding new charging locations across the country.
On the brand's official website, it is possible to confirm the forecast of seven Tesla Supercharger stations, in addition to the two already mentioned. Braga, Vila Real, Guarda, Castro Verde and Faro will be the next cities to receive the Elon Musk network.
