Nissan Skyline. 60 years of evolution in 2 minutes

Anonim

The Skyline is without a doubt the most iconic Japanese car ever and this year celebrates 60 years, so, nothing better than watching the evolution of the “myth” in just two minutes.

Throughout all these years it has been one of the “fetish” models for all possible and imaginary changes with a view to increasing potency for − for the sake of science and science alone! − make some drifts or starts to melt rubber as if that were the main objective. Speaking of Drift, do you know that there is already an Iberian cup in the sport? Check it out here.

The Skyline started production in the hands of the Prince Motor Company in 1957. In 1966 this merged with Nissan, but the Skyline name remained. Skyline would become synonymous with GT-R, but for friends the nickname is different… Godzilla.

The first GT-R arrived in 1969 and was equipped with a 2.0 liter inline six-cylinder engine capable of thunderous sound. But evolution wouldn't stop there. Skyline would meet new generations but the desired GT-R version would be delayed.

After 16 years without production, there was again a Skyline GT-R (R32) in 1989. With it came the impressive RB26DETT, a 2.6 liter twin-turbo with inline six cylinders and 276 hp of power. The all-wheel drive and four directional wheels were also unprecedented. The Skyline GT-R would meet two more generations, R33 and R34. Skyline and GT-R now follow separate paths.

Currently the Nissan GT-R (R35) has an engine 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 with 570hp (VR38DETT) which has recently undergone perhaps its biggest upgrade, getting a new interior. Some rumors indicate that Nissan may introduce something new in the NISMO version, which currently reaches 600hp, this month at the Tokyo Motor Show.
