Skoda will renew Karoq. What to expect from this update?

The Skoda Karoq is getting ready to receive the usual mid-life update and Mladá Boleslav's brand has even shown the first teasers.

The Karoq was introduced in 2017, almost as a sort of natural successor to the Yeti. And since then it has been a successful model, having even asserted itself as Skoda's second best-selling model in 2020 and the first half of this year.

Now, this C-segment SUV is getting ready to receive an update, which will be revealed to the world on November 30th.

Skoda Karoq facelift teaser

As you'd expect, in these first teasers it's possible to see that the general image will remain unchanged, but there are some differences, starting with the front grille, which is in line with what we've seen recently on the Skoda Enyaq.

The luminous signature will also be distinct, with the headlamps having a wider and less rectangular design, and with the taillights adopting a format closer to those of the Octavia.

And since we're talking at the rear, you can see that the logo of the Czech manufacturer of the Volkswagen Group has given way to the letters "SKODA" above the number plate (see image above), a change that had already been made in the 2020 version of the model.

No plug-in hybrid versions

Skoda has not yet released any information on the technical specifications of the model, but no significant changes are expected, so the range of engines should continue to be based on Diesel and petrol proposals.

Right now, the Karoq will not have plug-in hybrid versions, because Thomas Schäfer, executive director of the Czech brand, has already made it known that only Octavia and Superb will have this option.

“Of course, PHEV (plug-in hybrids) are important for fleets, which is why we have this offer on Octavia and Superb, but we won't have it on any more models. It doesn't make sense to us. Our future is the 100% electric car”, said the “boss” of Skoda, speaking to the Germans at the autogazette.
