Do you still remember the episode of Top Gear (the original, with the three “stooges” Clarkson, Hammond and May) where a helicopter landed on a platform placed on the roof of a Skoda Yeti? Well, the Czech brand decided to repeat the feat, this time officially and with the r new Kodiaq.

As with the Yeti, also now the overall structure of the Kodiaq has not been strengthened to support the helicopter's weight.

However, the Volkswagen Group company confirms that the rear suspension was reinforced to “ensure that the axles were balanced”.

The helicopter, a Robinson R22, which costs around 275 000 euros and has a gross weight of around 622 kg, landed on a specific platform, made of wood, which was attached to the roof structure, replacing the usual bars found in the production versions.

The stunt is remarkable and took place at a meeting of helicopter owners and pilots in Mladá Boleslav, the “home” of Skoda, but truth be told, Top Gear's was more impressive.
