Officially presented at the last New York Motor Show, the brand's new four-ring proposal for the Le Mans Series (LMS), the Audi R8 LMS GT4, will begin to be delivered to the first private customers. For now, only 12 units are destined for the USA (5) and Australia (1), in addition to private teams in Asia, Germany and the Netherlands, with two each. Portugal, on the contrary, will have to wait.
Remember that the Audi R8 LMS GT4 is based on the R8 road model, with the manufacturer even guaranteeing that this track version shares 60% of the components with the car approved for day-to-day use.
As for the remaining 40%, they are what transform the model into a competition car and prepared, for example, to face the Porsche Cayman, Mercedes-AMG GT, BMW M4 and McLaren 570S specifically adapted for the LMS.
Audi R8 LMS GT4 with shakedown at Nürburgring
It should be noted that, during the car's development process, Audi itself did not fail to enter the R8 LMS GT4 in tests at the German circuit of Nürburgring, for shakedown purposes. Applying the information collected there, the new GT4 are now ready to be put to the test by private teams spread across the four corners of the globe.
These vehicles can, in fact, be seen in competitions all over the world, in addition to racing in the Audi R8 MS Cup, which, in 2018, will be in its seventh edition from March onwards.
