Eighth place was enough, but Lewis Hamilton didn't leave any credit for anyone else's hands and he even managed to get a second place, confirming what we all expected at the entrance of the US Grand Prix: it would be in Texas that the Briton would celebrate the sixth world title in Formula 1 of your career.
Already guaranteed a place among the biggest names in the sport's history, with the title conquered in Austin, Lewis Hamilton overtook the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio (who has “only” five Formula 1 world champion titles and keeps the “ chase” to Michael Schumacher (which totals seven championships).
But it wasn't just Hamilton who “wrote history” by getting this title. Because, with the conquest of the British driver, Mercedes became the first team in the discipline to achieve a total of 12 titles in six years (don't forget that Mercedes had already been crowned world champion of teams).
Hamilton title and Mercedes one-two
In a race that many predicted would turn into a test of acclaim for Hamilton, it was Bottas (who started from pole position) who won, passing the Brit when he was leading with just six laps to go.

Slightly behind the two Mercedes was Max Verstappen, the “best of the rest” and whose attempt to reach second place turned out to be fruitless.
Finally, Ferrari showed once again that it faces a season of ups and downs with Leclerc failing to move beyond fourth place (and away from Verstappen) and Vettel being forced to retire on lap nine thanks to a suspension break.
