Toyota and Suzuki together in the development of new ultra-efficient engine

Anonim

According to the recently released statement, Suzuki will assume responsibility for the development of a new ultra-efficient engine, with technological support from both Toyota and Denso.

At the same time, Suzuki-developed models will be produced and sold in India by Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd. through both Suzuki and Toyota dealer networks. They will not stay in India, and will be sold equally, along with other models developed by the Hamamatsu manufacturer, in African markets, by the two brands.

Although, at the moment, the two companies are still debating all the details regarding this new phase of the partnership, the focus of the efforts seems to be centered, at least in an initial phase, in the Indian market. Which, however, does not prevent it from spilling over to other latitudes.

More partnerships

The partnership with Suzuki is the most recent partnership between Toyota and another Japanese manufacturer. Last year, Toyota and subsidiary Denso announced a partnership to develop core structural technologies for electric vehicles with Mazda. From the joint-venture not only a new company was born, but Toyota acquired 5.05% of Mazda and Mazda acquired 0.25% of the capital of the giant Toyota.

This year, Toyota and Mazda announced the joint construction of a factory in the US, which should start operating in 2021, producing the American Toyota Corolla and a new Mazda crossover. The factory will have a maximum capacity of 300 thousand units per year.

More recently, Toyota, Nissan and Honda have partnered to jointly develop solid-state batteries, billed as the next step in battery evolution.
