The first images of the Suzuki Swift Sport reveal... a turbo.

The Suzuki Swift Sport is the most anticipated version of the new generation of Japanese SUV. The last two generations may not have been the fastest or the most powerful, but such features and the affordable price were never an impediment for the Swift Sport to be one of the most interesting proposals to explore from a dynamic point of view within the universe of SUVs.

The new generation is just around the corner, and Suzuki has already released the first images of the small hot hatch.

Unfortunately, no additional information regarding the final specs came with the images. But looking at them, it is definitely confirmed that it will have a turbo . The previous two generations used a nervous 1.6 liter naturally aspirated 136 horsepower fan of high revs, but with this generation, this engine will be revamped.

Due to the images revealed, it is possible to see on the instrument panel, without any doubt, a visual indicator of the turbo pressure (Boost). The Suzuki Swift Sport was the last of the “vitamined” SUVs to resort to a naturally aspirated powertrain, but it, too, couldn't resist overcharging.

The engine most likely to occupy the front of the Swift Sport will be the four-cylinder 1.4-liter Boosterjet that we already know from the Vitara. Coupled to this, and once again revealed by the images, we can confirm that it will bring a six-speed manual gearbox.

If this is the engine, it is speculated that the Suzuki Swift Sport will come with more than the 140 horsepower present in the Vitara. And considering the contained weight of the latest generation Swift - around 100 kg lighter -, it is estimated that it weighs comfortably under a ton, benefiting the performance potential of the small sports car.

The images reveal new front and rear bumpers, uniquely designed wheels, new sports-cut seats, steering wheel with flat bottom, leather trim, and red trim, whether in the trim or in the seat seams. Although not visible in the images, others, taken from the official car brochure, reveal that the Swift Sport will keep the two tailpipes at the rear, just like its predecessors.

We will have to wait until September 12th to know all the details of the Suzuki Swift Sport, when it is presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
