Cold Start. In Brazil we can buy a Toyota Hilux with soybeans and corn

Created as a pilot project in 2019, the Toyota Barter (Exchange in English) is Toyota do Brasil's new direct sales channel and is the first of its kind in the country among car brands. But it's not unheard of: the Case tractor manufacturer, for example, has an identical program.

With 16% of its sales in Brazil coming from agribusiness, Toyota sees in this business model an opportunity for growth.

The Toyota Barter is already present in six states across the country, but intends to increase it to nine soon.

Thus, agricultural producers can buy not only a new Hilux pickup truck, such as the Corolla Cross and SW4 SUVs, giving grain to exchange, with the amount depending on the market value of the bags (unit of measure).

However, those interested in joining the Toyota Barter “will be submitted to verifications of environmental certifications for rural production to guarantee the commercialization of grains from sustainable plantations”, says the brand. For this task, Toyota established a partnership with NovaAgri which will be responsible for collecting and validating customer data.
