Finally revealed! Meet the Lamborghini Urus

Anonim

The Lamborghini Urus marks the beginning of a new era for the Italian brand. With this model Lamborghini hopes to achieve record sales figures and a crisis-proof financial health. According to the brand itself, the goal is to produce 3,500 units/year.

As you would expect, in aesthetic terms the Lamborghini Urus remains faithful to the lines of the prototypes that over the last five years(!) have been presented successively. And despite having its own visual identity — if only because of the shape of the bodywork — it's impossible not to find similarities with its brothers Huracán and Aventador.

Different driving modes will be available, including driving on a circuit.

shared platform

If in aesthetic terms the Urus is similar to its "blood brothers", in technological terms the similarities are with the "cousins" Bentley Bentayga, Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne — although the brand rejects that comparison. It is with these three Volkswagen Group SUVs that the Lamborghini Urus shares its MLB platform.

Weighing 2 154 kg in running order, the Lamborghini Urus has massive 440 mm ceramic discs and brake calipers with 10 pistons(!) on the front axle. Objective? Hang like a supercar. Practical result? The Lamborghini has the biggest brake discs that have ever fitted a production car.

And because braking is only part of the equation — as for the engine, let's go … — the ability to turn hasn't been forgotten. Urus features a four-wheel torque vectoring system, directional rear axle, suspensions and active stabilizer bars. In sportier driving modes (Corsa), electronic management gives priority to the rear axle. So far, so good…

4.0 V8 twin-turbo engine. Only?

Forget the V10 and V12 engines of other Lamborghini models. In Lamborghini Urus the Italian brand opted for a 4.0 liter V8 engine supercharged by two turbos.

The option for this engine is simple to explain. China is one of Urus' most important markets, and all models with displacements over 4.0 liters are highly rated in this market. That's why brands such as Mercedes-AMG, BMW and Audi have been operating, little by little, downsizing their most powerful engines.

Yes, it is Nurburgring.

After all, the performance and technical specifications are far from disappointing. This engine develops 650 hp of power and 850 Nm of maximum torque (electronically limited), values that allow the Lamborghini Urus to reach 0-100 km/h in just 3.59 seconds. The maximum speed is 300 km/h.

luxury interior

The last but not the least, the interior! Inside nothing was left to chance. The leather is present on all surfaces as well as the notes recalling the world of supercars. Technological content is state-of-the-art and of course… we have a back seat. Which, depending on the configuration, can accommodate two or three adults. The trunk has a capacity of 616 liters.

The climate control touchscreen is reminiscent of the Audi A8. It's not by chance…

Aware of customer demand for this type of SUV, Lamborghini has invested millions of euros in modernizing the manufacturing processes on its production line at the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory. The first units reach the market early next year.
