After being announced a few months ago, today it's time to let you know the results of the first RM Sotheby's auction held in Portugal, in which 124 cars were auctioned, all belonging to the same collection: the Sáragga Collection.

Initiated over 30 years ago, the very eclectic (and vast) collection by Ricardo Sáragga brought together models from brands such as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, an example of national good Sado 550 and several pre-war models, American classics and even a humble Fiat Panda Cross.

Common to all the specimens that were auctioned on September 21st near Comporta, they are in excellent condition, ready to be transported, and the vast majority presented with national registration.

Among the models auctioned, the biggest star was, without a doubt, a 1931 Bentley 8-Litre Tourer , the record holder of the auction having been snatched by 680 thousand euros. Behind him, as far as the bid price is concerned, comes one of the cars that captured the most attention in the months before the auction, a flashy one (but not because of its color) Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring.

The second most expensive car at the auction held near Comporta was the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring.

Sold for 602 375 euros, this copy was born in 1973 and not only has a complete history but also underwent a meticulous restoration that returned it to its original condition. Still in the Porsche universe, the highlights were a 1992 911 Carrera RS (sold for 241,250 euros), a 2010 911 GT3 RS that earned close to 175 thousand euros and also a 356B Roadster which saw the winning bid settle at 151 800 euros.

Auction rarities

As you well know, the Sáragga Collection included some rarities from the automotive world. Among these, there was a Delahaye 135M Convertible by Chapron 1939 (sold for €331,250) or a WD Denzel 1300 from 1955 and of which it is estimated that there are only 30 units, auctioned for 314 375 euros.

Other rarities that were present there were, for example, a Mercedes-Benz 600 Sedan from 1966 with a glass roof made by the Parisian coachman Henri Chapron and which was auctioned for 342 500 euros and, of course, the small Sado 550 which saw its bid go up to 6900 euros.

Among the 124 models sold, a 1956 Lancia Aurelia B24S Convertible (sold for 231 125 euros), an Alpine-Renault A110 1300 from 1972 that came to be auctioned for 195 500 euros or a rare (and quite old) Amilcar CGS of 1925 whose highest bid was 100 050 euros.

ERRATUM: In the original version of this article, Razão Automóvel used an image of a copy of the Sado 550 model, which did not correspond to the model traded in the auction of the Sáragga Collection. For that reason, we removed the image from the article.

To Mr. Teófilo Santos, the main target of this error and legitimate owner of the model represented in the image — which, we emphasize, did not correspond to the model traded in the auction of the Sáragga Collection — it remains for us to publicly present our most sincere apology. An apology that we extend to all our readers.
