Ami is not the only one. Citroën unveils plans for electrification and announces new… C4

Our recent trip to Paris was not just about getting to know the new Citroën Ami, and in the French capital we got to know Citroën's ambitious electrification plan.

In total, by the end of this year, Citroën intends to launch six electrified models: five 100% electric and a plug-in hybrid, which we already know: the C5 Aircross Hybrid is already priced in Portugal and arrives in the national market in June.

As for the rest of Citroën's electrification plan, it is made up of the electrical versions of the Jumper and Jumpy commercials, the electrical version of the SpaceTourer, the new Citroën Ami and a new C-segment model (a true successor to the C4 ). All of them should reach the market by the end of the year.

Like the “cousins” Opel Zafira Life and Peugeot Traveller, the Citroën SpaceTourer will also have an electric version.

What is already known about the new C4?

Obviously, the model that captures the most attention in the entire Citroën electrification plan is precisely the one whose shapes we do not know.

Intended to replace the C4 Cactus, which in turn had already taken the place of the C4 when it was restyled, the new model will also feature diesel and gasoline engines. Apparently, it will be developed based on the CMP platform, the same as the Peugeot 208 and 2008, DS 3 Crossback and Opel Corsa.

According to the product director at Citroën, Laurence Hansen, the new model will “meet consumer expectations. It will not be a typical hatchback and will have a higher posture”, which suggests a model with the crossover format that is so in vogue today.

Unveiled yesterday, the Citroën Ami is the Gallic brand's vision for the future of mobility.

Citroën CEO Vincent Cobee stated that the model will have more consensual lines than the C4 Cactus, a model with which the French brand "let itself be a little enthused by its own innovation capabilities".
