Extreme E's inaugural season should start in early 2021 and will have a format of five stages that will take place in different locations (from the Arctic to the desert through the rainforest), all of which have in common the fact that they have been damaged or affected by climate change.

Focused on gender equality, Extreme E requires teams to register male and female riders. In the case of CUPRA, one of its drivers will be its ambassador, the Rally Cross and DTM champion Mattias Ekström.

About this new category, Ekström stated: “Extreme E is a mix of Raid and Rally Cross, running through very different environments with lanes marked using GPS (…) But it has a lot of promise for the development of electric vehicles; allows you to collect data for feedback on cars in areas such as software and energy regeneration.”
