Huracán STO went to Hockenheim, it was fast but didn't bring any records

Revealed about a year ago and with the “mission” of taking the place of Huracán Performante, the new Lamborghini Huracán STO doesn't hide its focus on track performance.

Perhaps that's why our colleagues at Sport Auto decided to take it to its “natural habitat” and discover what it has to offer on the German circuit in Hockenheim.

On paper, everything promises a memorable performance. Less 43 kg in weight (dry weight is 1339 kg), rear-wheel drive, even more efficient aerodynamics, wider tracks, stiffer bushes, specific stabilizer bars, always with the Magneride 2.0 system, steering to the rear wheels and even we didn't even talk about the engine.

This is a naturally aspirated 5.2 V10 that delivers a whopping 640 hp at 8000 rpm and 565 Nm torque at 6500 rpm. All of this makes it possible to reach 100 km/h in 3s, 200 km/h in 9s and a top speed of 310 km/h.

How did you behave on track?

Well, despite all its “arsenal”, the Huracán STO only managed to be 0.4s faster than the “normal” Huracán Evo. In total it took 1min 48.6s for the Lamborghini Huracán STO tested by Sport Auto to travel the German track.

This value is considerably far from the time obtained by the fastest car tested by that publication on that circuit — the McLaren Senna with 1min40.8s. Also ahead of the Italian supercar are models such as the McLaren 720S (1min45.5s) and the Mercedes-AMG GT R (1min48.5s).

In “defence” of the Huracán STO — which was equipped with Bridgestone Potenza Races — it is worth remembering that some of the rivals of the Italian model faced the circuit on hotter days, a factor that could have been decisive in this “war” for the lap times.
