Porsche presents Boxster and Cayman GTS

Porsche introduced the GTS versions of the Cayman and Boxster. More power in a class-leading car can only equate to more fun.

Forgetting the galactic 918 Spyder, the representation of the mid-engined architecture of the house in Stuttgart is in charge of the Porsche Cayman and Boxster. Often regarded as the standard in terms of behavior in the class, the “S” insignia highlighted the more powerful variants of both models. Now appear the GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) versions, which give a more vibrant soul to these examples of what a sports car should be.

The 3.4l 6-cylinder boxer engine is maintained in the engine room, derived from the S versions, however, after undergoing some adjustments, this block manages to generate more 15hp and 10NM, which translates into a total power of 330hp and 340hp, while the torsional force jumps to 370NM and 380NM, in the Boxster and Cayman, respectively.

As for other components, Porsche presented the Cayman and Boxster GTS with the Sport Chrono package as standard, which includes dynamic gearbox mounts. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which, as the name implies, actively manages various suspension parameters for these cars, is also standard. The wheels that equip these mid-engined sports cars are 20 inches, surrounded by 235/35 tires at the front and 265/35 at the rear. The interior has not been forgotten, and to distinguish it from other versions, it has been enriched with elements in Alcantara.

Results? In the coupé version, we can count on the best performances: 4.6 seconds to reach the 100km/h (4.7 for the Boxster), and the maximum speeds surpass the 280 km/h barrier. For those more concerned about consumption, if the coupé is equipped with the Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) box, consumption can be 6.3l/100km in extra-urban regime. However, the brand reveals a more realistic 9 liters of average consumption for both versions.

As for prices, the base version of the Boxster GTS costs €94 816.30, while the Cayman GTS is around €4000 more expensive.
