Mercedes-AMG celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, but we are the ones who are entitled to the gift.

Over these 50 years, the company founded by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher has been fulfilling the wishes of fans of high-performance vehicles. The German duo started by establishing the first facilities in a former factory in 1967, as an “engineering, design and test center for the development of competition engines”.

In 1971, the AMG 300 SEL 6.8 of “Aufrecht and Melcher, Großaspach” (AMG) unexpectedly won its class and snatched second place overall in the 24-hour race at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps – the full story here. Five years later, the factory in Affalterbach was founded.

As of 1988, in addition to building the Mercedes-Benz 190 E competition models, the preparer was also responsible for implementing the model in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). Effective collaboration with Mercedes-Benz started two years later.

In 2005, AMG was acquired in its entirety by Daimler AG, taking over once and for all the production of sporty versions of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Five decades later, Mercedes-Benz Portugal decided to mark this occasion with a special anniversary edition . 50 units of the C-Class Coupé will be available with an automatic transmission, from the AMG interior and exterior line. This equipment package totals a benefit of around €5,000 and is available for the C 220 d and 250 d engines.
