Cold Start. Soapbox. The only Hyundai you can ride at home

Anonim

Have you ever wondered what engineers and brand workers do in their spare time? Well, if at Toyota they are entertained making limos based on the RAV4, at Hyundai they decide to make mini cars that you can assemble at home and the proof of this is the Hyundai Soapbox.

Designed by Hyundai's technical center in Europe as if it were a real model, with the chassis being designed first, going through the sketch phase of the design to 3D models, the Hyundai Soapbox is the only “model” from South Korean brand that you can assemble at home.

According to Hyundai, the design was inspired by the Concept 45 while the replacement of the steering wheel for a system with a joystick (which in this case are two wooden beams) was inspired by the Prophecy prototype.

Produced using materials you can easily find in a building materials store (the wheels are the same as those on wheelbarrows), the Hyundai Soapbox has a simple braking system, measures 1.76 m long and 1 m wide and it fits, for example, on a Hyundai i30 SW.

Despite being designed with children in mind, Soapbox can support the weight of an adult, bringing to mind the days of rolling carts. If you want to venture into the world of DIY and “car production”, we leave the PDF with the instructions here.
