Dacia Duster has been renovated, but what's new?

Anonim

Originally released in 2010 and already with 1.9 million units sold, the Dacia Duster is a success story, holding the title of sales leader in its class in Europe since 2019.

Well, if there's one thing Dacia doesn't want to do it's “falling asleep in the shadow of success” and that's why the Romanian brand decided it was time to operate a traditional mid-life renovation to its successful SUV.

Aesthetically, the objective was not only to modernize it but also to offer it a more in-line look with the new Sandero and Spring Electric. In this way, Duster received new headlamps with the luminous signature in “Y” already traditional from Dacia, LED turn signals (a first for the brand) and even a new chrome grille.

On the side, the biggest highlight are the new 15 and 16” wheels, while at the rear the innovations come down to a new spoiler and the adoption of the luminous signature in “Y” also in the rear lights.

Enhanced technology

Moving inland, the focus was on improving life on board. Thus, the Dacia Duster received new materials, new seat coverings, a new center console (with a closed storage space with 1.1 liters of capacity). However, the big news is, without a doubt, the new infotainment system.

With an 8” screen it comes in two specifications: Media Display and Media Nav. In both cases the system is compatible with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems, and in the second case we have, as the name implies, a navigation system.

And in mechanics, what has changed?

In the field of mechanics, the renewed Duster's main novelty is the fact that it “married” the TCe 150 engine with an automatic gearbox with six EDC double clutches. Furthermore, the LPG version (which we've already tested) saw the capacity of the gas tank increase by 50%, rising to 49.8 litres.

For the rest, the range continues to comprise a Diesel engine — the dCi 115 — the only one that can be associated with the all-wheel drive system, three gasoline engines (TCe 90, TCe 130 and TCe 150) and the aforementioned bifuel version gasoline and LPG.

The luminous signature in "Y" now appears in the headlights and taillights.

Speaking of the all-wheel drive variant, it is worth noting the fact that thanks to the adoption of more aerodynamic wheels, LED lights, new tires and new wheel bearings, the CO2 emissions of this version have dropped by 5.8 g/km.

For now, we still don't know the prices of the renewed Dacia Duster for Portugal, however we know that it will reach the market in September.
