Bugatti Chiron Divo, the GT3 RS of the Chirons?

Anonim

It was in March, at the Geneva Motor Show, that we met the Bugatti Chiron Sport, a more “focused” version of the hyper-GT, weighing 18 kg less and with revised suspension, 10% firmer than the Chiron (if we can do it). call a) regular.

But apparently it was just an appetizer for what is to come. Rumors, not long after Chiron Sport's performance, reported a private event that took place in Los Angeles, USA, where Bugatti introduced selected customers to a much more radical and “controversial” Chiron variant.

The rumors are now gaining traction after another similar event took place in New York.

Divo is your name

Those present at the event of the presentation of the Bugatti Divo report a Chiron with numerous differences to the current one, many in the visual field, due to a new aerodynamic package. The goal will have to be to increase the downforce, since, it seems, the maximum speed of the Divo will be “only” at 385 km/h , instead of the 420 km/h of the regular model.

The other bits of information pertain to the dual-clutch automatic transmission — a revised version of the current one, or is it entirely new? — with the aim of improving the already fantastic acceleration values of the Chiron; and an expressive diet — certainly in excess of the 18 kg less achieved Chiron Sport.

Happiness is not around the curve. It's the curve. Divo was made for curves.

Divo, the origin of the name

The name Divo is an allusion to Albert Divo, former French driver of the brand, twice winner of the Targa Fiorio in the late 1920s, the historic test that took place on the mountainous roads of Sicily, justifying the choice of name — also Divo wants be light and agile, able to bend like its historic predecessors.

The equivalent of a GT3 RS?

In other words, does everything point to the Bugatti Divo being a Chiron optimized for circuits — the GT3 RS of the Chirons? — while maintaining road approval.

According to The Supercar Blog, which put forward this information, the Bugatti Divo will be limited to 40 units at the base price of five million euros per unit — pre-tax —, twice the amount advertised for Chiron Sport (!).

The disclosure of the Bugatti Divo will take place, according to the brand, during the next “The Quail – A Motorsports Gathering” taking place in California, USA, on August 24, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2020.
