Less than 400 km. This McLaren F1 will change hands for a small fortune

Anonim

There are cars that need no introduction and the McLaren F1 is definitely one of them. Created by Gordon Murray, this “car unicorn” saw only 71 road units come off the production line (106 units in total, between prototypes and competition).

Driven by a BMW atmospheric V12 (S70/2) with a capacity of 6.1 l, 627 hp at 7400 rpm and 650 Nm at 5600 rpm, the Mclaren F1 was for many years the fastest production car in the world, and is still the fastest atmospheric engine production car ever.

For all these reasons, the emergence of a unit for sale is always an event and, as the years pass, the values achieved at auction by this “masterpiece” by Murray are increasingly inflated (fairly, in fact ). For this reason, it is estimated that the unit we are talking about will be auctioned for more than 15 million dollars (about 12.6 million euros).

McLaren F1

in immaculate state

“Looking for a new owner” at the Gooding and Company auction in Pebble Beach in August, this McLaren F1 is presented with chassis number 029, having left the production line in 1995. With the exterior painted in the unique color “Creighton Brown ” and the leather-covered interior, this specimen traveled, on average, only 16 km per year!

Its first owner was a Japanese citizen who rarely used it and after that this F1 "emigrated" to the US where, equally, little use was given to it. In addition to the immaculate state and low mileage, this unit has a few more “points of interest”.

McLaren F1

To start with, it comes with a kit of original suitcases that fit into the side compartments. In addition, this McLaren F1 also has the rare TAG Heuer watch and not even the “cart” of tools is missing to complete the set.

Finally, and as a sort of “certificate of originality”, even the tires are the original Goodyear Eagle F1, although, as they are 26 years old, we advise that they be replaced before returning this F1 to its “natural habitat” : the road.
