Autonomy. Skoda Octavia "humbles" Tesla Model 3!

At a time when trams are beginning to approach vehicles with combustion engines, as far as autonomy is concerned, here's a very old man Skoda Octavia , from the first generation, equipped with a “rudimentary” 1.9 TDI of 90 hp, puts “things in place” again. Showing that, no matter how far they have gone, trams still have a long way to go.

After a Tesla Model 3 managed to cover 975.5 km with a single charge, traveling at speeds between 32.1 and 48.2 km/h, this Octavia, with more than 696 kilometers covered, managed, with the its “small” fuel tank of just 60 litres, travel from London, Great Britain, to the German circuit of the Nürburgring, and back to the starting point!

To the trip, in a total of 1287 km , passing through Belgium and France, there was not even a complete lap of the Ring, with Octavia then returning to the British capital, where it reached the end of 24 hours on the road, with an average speed of around 50 km/h .

Once the challenge that our fellows at Car Throttle set out to undertake, the Czech car had, in the end, an average consumption of 3.3 l/100 km on the on-board computer, a value which, after a second check, carried out through the filling the tank ended up rising to 3.8 l/100 km — a still surprising number!

And case to exclaim: so what now, Model 3?…
