Meet the Skoda Octavia RS 245, the fastest Octavia ever

The Skoda Octavia RS 245 is the most powerful Octavia ever and promises to be the fastest, both in a straight line and when cornering.

Just recently we got to know the new Skoda Octavia RS. In addition to the updates in terms of style and content shared with the rest of the Octavia range, the RS 245 version gained power and increased its performance, so the announcement of an even more powerful RS was something unexpected.

The Octavia RS 245 stands out by adding another 15 hp compared to the RS we already know, and as its name suggests, totaling 245 hp. Torque also benefits, now with more than 20 Nm, which makes 370 Nm available between 1600 and 4300 rpm. The transmission is powered by a six-speed manual gearbox, or, an absolute first in the Octavia range, a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, one more than on the 230hp RS.

Benefits benefit, albeit marginally, compared to RS. The classics 0-100 km/h are done in 6.6 and 6.7 seconds, car and van respectively, just a tenth less than the RS. Top speed remains limited to 250 km/h.

To satisfy the most demanding, the focus is on adding an electronically controlled limited slip differential, called VAQ, an exclusive option for this model. The advantages of this component in attacking and especially in exiting corners are more than known. Could it be that Octavia, a model of rationality and common sense, in this RS 245 version, was transformed into an animal that devours curves?

Visually, the differences from the Octavia RS 245 to the RS are subtle. There are some details in glossy black, and the RS 245 comes standard with exclusive 19″ wheels. Inside, it has some specific decorative features, but always in a subtle way.

The new model promises to be the best of both worlds, a harmonious fusion of reason and emotion for fast-paced families. The Octavia RS 245 will be presented at the next Geneva Motor Show in March.
