On the market since 2014, the current (and third) generation of Skoda Fabia he already has a replacement in sight, with his arrival scheduled for spring.
Unlike the current generation, which is based on the PQ26 platform, the new generation of the Czech utility will share the MQB A0 platform with Kamiq and “cousins” Volkswagen Polo and T-Cross or SEAT Ibiza and Arona.
With regard to engines, although nothing has yet been confirmed, it is not difficult to guess that he will inherit from his “brothers” and “cousins” the same engines, concentrated around the 1.0 l three-cylinder, with and without turbocharger. The transmission will be in charge of a manual or DSG gearbox with seven ratios.
As for the possibility of a diesel Fabia, with the 1.6 TDI practically refurbished, it is unlikely that it will exist.
Confirmed van
Thanks to the adoption of the MQB A0 platform, the new Fabia not only became able to rely on a series of new technologies, but also saw the luggage compartment capacity grow (+50 liters) as well as the living space.

Also confirmed is the van version, with the guarantee to be given by the brand's CEO, Thomas Schafer, who a few months ago told Automotive News Europe “We will have a van version again (…) this is very important for us because it highlights our commitment in offering affordable and practical mobility in the lower segments”.
Just to give you an idea, since the van version of the Fabia was launched in 2000, 1.5 million units have already been sold.
