It is called BMW i Inside Future and is the new prototype of the German brand, presented at CES 2017.

"Future". As it could not be otherwise, it is the word that is heard most at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017. These days, the city of Las Vegas is becoming a kind of «technology mecca» and BMW did not want to miss the party . Therefore, the German brand took to the North American city its latest prototype, the BMW i Inside Future . It's a simple, minimalist and full of technology interpretation that transforms the car into a living room: for BMW, that's what the interiors of the future will be like.

The cabin has been split in two: a cockpit that does not require any physical buttons and, further back, a dedicated passenger area, with comfort becoming more and more a priority. In order to fully showcase the interior, the BMW i Inside Future presents itself in Las Vegas without a traditional bodywork: instead BMW opted to completely cover all four wheels. An option, at the very least, futuristic.

But the biggest highlight is the technology HoloActive Touch . This system takes the gesture control functions available in the 5 Series and 7 Series to another level and allows the driver to easily access the screen in the instrument panel, which extends across the entire width of the cockpit. Like? Through a virtual three-dimensional screen in the center console, as if it were a hologram. Thanks to a camera, HoloActive Touch recognizes the driver's gestures, and sends feedback to the driver's fingers through an ultrasonic sensor.

Another new feature is the Personal BMW Sound Curtain , which allows the driver and passengers to listen to different music at the same time, without being able to hear each other's music. The sound is emitted from the headrest, which explains the unusual design.
