The next Geneva Motor Show will start on March 6 (March 8 for the general public), and its visitors will be treated to a colossal vision — a sculpture of a huge lion in the Peugeot space.

The French brand announces this Lion Peugeot as the brand's new ambassador — a sculpture that symbolizes, according to the brand: “the pride, strength and excellence of a brand with more than 200 years of history”.

The lion has been the symbol of Peugeot for 160 years, and was originally recorded as far back as 1858.

Why a Lion?

Peugeot already existed even though the automobile had not been invented. And he has always made the most varied types of products — from food products to bicycles and even… saw blades. And it was with his saw blades in mind that the lion symbol emerged.

The lion in profile, resting on an arrow, referred to the three qualities of Peugeot saw blades: flexibility, tooth strength and cutting speed, with the arrow symbolizing speed.

The sculpture that will be at the Geneva Motor Show was conceived by the designers of the Peugeot Design Lab, the brand's atelier that serves customers outside the automotive sector. It's really big — the Peugeot Lion is 12.5 meters long and 4.8 meters tall.

The stylists gave this monumental Lion an identity and timeless design, through fluid and sculpted surfaces. Its spectacular dimensions emphasize the Lion's strong, powerful and challenging character. Its standing posture, moving with determination but without
aggressiveness, is a promise of serenity and confidence in the future.
