For now, the only way to have a Mazda3 with turbo engine, opting for the Skyactiv-D variant with diesel engine and 116 hp. However, according to Jalopnik, that could change.
Our colleagues at Jalopnik had access to internal images of the brand — used for the purposes of training sales teams — and said that from 2021 onwards, the Mazda3 should have a turbo engine… with gasoline.
According to this publication, this engine will be associated with an all-wheel drive system and will be available in hatchback and sedan variants.
In addition, Jalopnik also mentions that in the screenshots obtained the code “6A” appears, which, it seems, means that these engines will only be available with automatic cash.
What engine could this be?
For now, the possibility that the Mazda3 range of petrol engines will have a turbo option remains in the “realm” of rumours.

However, there are already some publications that speculate about possible candidates for the role of “secret turbo engine”.
Therefore, CarScoops advances that the engine in question may be a 2.5 l turbo with 250 hp and 420 Nm used by Mazda6, CX-5 and CX-9 in the USA.
Now, it only remains to wait to confirm if these rumors are really true and if, if the Mazda3 does receive a turbo engine, it will come to Europe.
