The first MX-5 NA restored by Mazda has already been delivered

A year after presenting the restoration program designed to help maintain the iconic first generation of the Mazda MX-5 on the roads, the brand delivered the first car to benefit from an official Mazda restoration.

The newly restored Mazda MX-5 NA is from a refurbished Japanese farmer, who bought it new in 1992. This MX-5 was chosen from over 600 applicants, with the restoration finishing in August, but the car was not delivered until to the owner last month.

The selected MX-5 belongs to the special V-Special series, which featured a Nardi wooden steering wheel, leather seats, a self-locking differential, a front anti-approach bar and was painted in a flashy British Racing Green. The owner bought it new and since then says it has only provided him with good memories.

Restores only in Japan

The MX-5 owner stated that he already planned to restore the small roadster but kept putting it off until the opportunity arose to ship the MX-5 to the brand that made it to restore it to its former glory. Now, seeing the car in a state identical to the one he left the stand in 1992, the Japanese believer has had a car for at least another 25 years.

In addition to the restoration program, Mazda has also created a parts reproduction program so that the owners of the first MX-5s have no reason not to keep them on the road. Despite everything, the restoration program takes place exclusively at Mazda's facilities in Hiroshima, Japan, and there is still no information on how the parts can be purchased.
