Skoda Karoq already has prices for Portugal (and it's available now)

As you have seen, Skoda Karoq's rivals are more than many. But the Czech model presents a set of arguments that put it in contention for a slice of the most disputed segment today.

It offers good interior space, new driver assistance systems, full LED headlamps and – for the first time on a SKODA – a digital instrument panel. Features such as the VarioFlex system for the rear seats (allows you to remove the seats from the passenger compartment) and the virtual pedal for opening/closing the boot (optional) are further highlights of Skoda's new compact SUV.

In combination with the optional VarioFlex rear seat, the base volume of the luggage compartment is variable, from 479 to 588 litres. With the VarioFlex system, the rear seats can be completely removed – and the SUV becomes a van, with a maximum load capacity of 1810 litres.

Volkswagen's latest technology

The Skoda Karoq — as has been usual in the brand's latest models — promises to make life difficult even for Volkswagen's "sister". Skoda once again uses the best components of the “German giant” and can be customized with a digital instrument panel, available in four different layouts, allowing you to view all information concerning driving, vehicle status, navigation and the infotainment system.

The information and entertainment building modules come from the second generation of the Volkswagen Group's modular systems, offering state-of-the-art functionalities, interfaces and equipment with capacitive touch displays (with proximity sensor). The top Columbus system and the Amundsen system even have a wi-fi hotspot.

In terms of driving aids, the new comfort systems include the parking assistant (Parking Assistant), Lane Assist and Traffic, blind spot assistant (Blind Spot Detect), Front Assist with extended protection for pedestrians and Emergency Assistant (Emergency Assistant). The new Trailer Assistant – the Karoq can tow trailers up to two tonnes – helps with slow reversing manoeuvres.

Engines

In the first launch phase, the Skoda Karoq will be available in Portugal with three distinct blocks: one petrol and two Diesel. The displacements are 1.0 (petrol), 1.6 and 2.0 liters (Diesel) and the power range is between 116 hp (85 kW) and 150 hp (110 kW). All engines are units with direct injection, turbocharger and start-stop system with braking energy recovery.

All engines can be coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG transmission.

Gasoline Engines

  • 1.0 TSI - 116 hp (85 kW) , maximum torque 200 Nm, top speed 187 km/h, acceleration 0-100 km/h in 10.6 seconds, combined consumption of 5.3 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions of 119 g/km. 6-speed manual gearbox (series) or 7-speed DSG (optional).
  • 1.5 TSI Evo - 150 hp (available from the 3rd quarter)

Diesel Engines

  • 1.6 TDI - 116 hp (85 kW) , maximum torque 250 Nm, top speed 188 km/h, acceleration 0-100 km/h in 10.7 seconds, combined consumption 4.6 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 120 g/km. 6-speed manual gearbox (series) or 7-speed DSG (optional).
  • 2.0 TDI - 150 hp (110 kW) , 4×4, maximum torque 340 Nm, top speed 196 km/h, acceleration 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, combined consumption 5.0 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 131 g /km. 6-speed manual gearbox (series) or 7-speed DSG (optional).
  • 2.0 TDI - 150 hp (110 kW), 4×2 (available from the 3rd quarter).

Prices for Portugal

The new Skoda Karoq is proposed in Portugal with two levels of equipment (Ambition and Style) and prices from 25 672 euros (Gasoline) and 30 564 euros (Diesel). Style versions start at €28 992 (1.0 TSI) and €33 886 (1.6 TDI).

The 7-speed DSG gearbox is an option for 2100 euros

The 2.0 TDI version, only available with all-wheel drive and Style equipment level, is offered for 39 284 euros.

Speaking to Razão Automóvel, António Caiado, Head of Marketing at Skoda, highlighted the strong endowment of standard equipment for the new Karoq “even in the entry equipment line”. Marketing of the Skoda Karoq in Portugal has already started.
