With the year drawing to a close, Volvo has good reason to celebrate. After all, in 2018 the Swedish brand achieved a 13.5% increase in sales in the period between January and November and has now seen the 100,000 unit of the Volvo S90 roll of the production line.

Launched in 2016, the Volvo S90 saw its sales grow in 2018 by 30.7% compared to last year. Developed based on the SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform, the S90 was the Swedish brand's response to the success of German saloons and, as the figures reveal, it was a winning bet.

But if the production of the 100,000 unit of the Volvo S90 is already cause for celebration for Volvo, what about the sales results that the Swedish brand has achieved this year? Between January and November 2018 Volvo has already sold 582 096 cars.

To give you an idea, in the same period last year, 513 055 units had been sold. In fact, the 582 096 Volvos sold between January and November 2018 even match the numbers for the entire year of 2017, in which 571 577 cars of the Scandinavian brand were sold.

Much of the sales are based on the success of the XC60 and XC40. In addition to these, the new Volvo V60 and V60 Cross Country also helped to boost the Swedish brand's sales.

The market where Volvo's sales grew the most between January and November this year was the North American, with a growth of 24.5%, with 89 437 units sold. In the Chinese market, Volvo's sales reached 118,725 units in the first eleven months of the year, an increase of 13.8% compared to the same period in 2017.

But it is in Europe that Volvo sells the most. Between January and November 2018, the Scandinavian brand sold 288,369 cars in Europe, a figure that represents a sales growth of 7.3%.
