Find out all about MAT Stratos

Anonim

Originally designed specifically for competition, specifically for rallies, while Lancia Stratos HF, a new Stratos has just come into the world at the 88th Geneva Motor Show. Now built by Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT) and based on the mechanics of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia.

Proposed in three distinct versions — Road, GT Rally and Safari — the MAT Stratos implies that anyone interested in owning one of the 25 units to be built, owns or acquires first, in the second-hand market, a Ferrari 430 Scuderia, which will be then handed over to MAT to be transformed into a new Stratos.

Remember that the design of this new Stratos was initially presented in 2010 by multimillionaire Michael Stoschek, with the design and development being the work of Pininfarina. A single unit was built, based on a 430 Scuderia. However, Ferrari's objections to the project eventually led to the suspension of plans to produce a small series.

MAT Stratos

V8 with 540 hp guarantees 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3s

The new MAT Stratos will be based on the same engine as the Ferrari, a eight cylinders in V, 4.3 liters, delivering something like 540 hp at 8200 rpm and 519 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm . Values that allow announcing a power-to-weight ratio of 2.3 kg/hp.

In terms of performance, the new Stratos promises, thanks also to the inclusion of a sequential six-speed gearbox, an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3s, from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.7s and a top speed of 330 km/h.

The original Lancia Stratos still steals all the attention!

Braking ability is as impressive or more impressive than acceleration: just 2.2s from 100 to 0 km/h . This is a consequence of the option for carbon brake discs, 398 mm at the front and 350 mm at the rear, with six caliper pistons at the front and four at the rear wheels.

Compared to the Ferrari 430 Scuderia on which it is based, the new Stratos has a wheelbase shortened by 200 mm, in addition to having a shorter front span and with the radiator in a different position. It promises to be even more agile on particularly winding roads, guaranteed MAT CEO Paolo Garella.

MAT already counts more than a dozen interested parties

Also according to the Italian bodybuilder, who in recent years has been collaborating with small supercar manufacturers such as Apollo Automobili or Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, there are already more than a dozen people interested in this new Stratos. They will, however, have to pay a minimum price of 500 thousand euros for the transformation… plus the amount spent on the 430 Scuderia!
