Mercedes-Benz X-Class was the first of a new generation of pick-ups that tries not to compromise too much on comfort and handling, while maintaining pick-up characteristics, such as versatility and robustness. In November, we met and were able to drive this new pick-up from the star brand, which even though it shares the base and several components with the Nissan Navara, is definitely different from this one, and no, it's not just the star on the front grille.
The brand took advantage of the Geneva Motor Show to make known the new version of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class, with more DNA from the brand. It will be the most powerful pick-up on the market, and unlike the current one that mounts the 2.3 liter block of Nissan origin, with the same gearbox and transmission, the new version has the block 3.0 liters with six cylinders of original Mercedes-Benz , always associated with an automatic transmission 7G-Tronic Plus — seven speeds — with paddle shifters and permanent 4Matic all-wheel drive. The new engine has 258 hp and a torque of 550 Nm. The most powerful pick-up on the market thus announces 7.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h, and a top speed of 205 km/h.
The V6 block also ensures great efficiency and includes a lighter design, a variable geometry turbo for faster response, and NANOSLIDE coated cylinder technology for less friction, also used in Formula 1. A technology patented by the brand.
On the outside, the only change, apart from the model designation, is the badge on the side with the inscription “V6 turbo”.
The driving modes — Comfort, Eco, Sport, Manual and Offroad — allow for different behaviors, both in terms of engine response and gear changes, without forgetting suspension damping.
The 350d 4Matic X-Class will only be available in the Progressive and Power equipment levels and has the suspension DYNAMIC SELECT to be part of the standard equipment. It will arrive in Europe in the middle of this year. In Germany it will have a base price of 53 360 euros.
Inside, the only differences are the paddles on the steering wheel.
The brand also took the opportunity to extend the range of accessories available, including new 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels, sports bars, and a new closing of the cargo area with a curtain system.
