The new Kia Ceed — no longer Cee’d — raises high expectations. The new generation seems to have equipped themselves with the right ingredients to aim even higher than previous generations. In Geneva, the brand unveiled another bodywork, the van Kia Ceed Sportswagon.
The new Kia Ceed is really new, despite maintaining the length and wheelbase of its predecessor, debuting a new platform. Lower and wider, which generates new proportions, it also has a more mature design, characterized by the predominance of horizontal and straight lines.
The new platform (K2) ensures better space utilization, with Kia announcing more shoulder space for rear passengers, and more head space for driver and front passenger — the driving position is now more low.
Kia Ceed Sportswagon is new
But the surprise at the Geneva Motor Show came from the unveiling of yet another of the four bodies planned for the Ceed. In addition to the five-door saloon, we could see first-hand the new generation van. In addition to the expected visual differences from the B-pillar to the rear, with a longer rear volume, the Ceed Sportswagon naturally stands out due to the increased capacity of the luggage compartment. Regarding the car that has 395 liters, the trunk at SW grows more than 50%, totaling a massive 600 liters — value that surpasses even the proposals of the segment above.New Autonomous Driving Technologies
A lot of equipment and technologies stand out in the new generation of Kia Ceed — even one a heated windshield (!) optional mark presence. The new Ceed is also the first model of the brand in Europe to come equipped with Level 2 autonomous driving technologies, namely with a Lane Maintenance Assistance system.
But it doesn't stop there, including other systems such as High-beam Light Assistant, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Maintenance Warning System and Frontal Collision Warning with Assistance to Prevent Frontal Collisions.
New Diesel Engine
With regard to engines, the highlight is the debut of a new 1.6-litre Diesel block with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, capable of complying with the latest standards and test cycles. It is available in two power levels — 115 and 136 hp — producing 280 Nm in both cases, with CO2 emissions projected to be below 110 g/km.
Gasoline was not forgotten. The 1.0 T-GDi (120 hp), a new 1.4 T-GDi (140 hp) and, finally, the 1.4 MPi without turbo (100 hp), are available as an entry step into the range.

Production of the new Kia Ceed starts in May, with its marketing starting in Europe at the end of the second quarter of this year, while the Kia Ceed Sportswagon will arrive during the last quarter.
