Polestar 1. The first Polestar model finally live

Anonim

Today, elevated to the status of an independent brand, although operating in direct connection with Volvo, Polestar presents itself, for the first time, to the public, and with a proposal clearly aimed at its heart — a high-end plug-in hybrid coupé performances, called Polestar 1.

The status of an independent brand can be seen in the absence of any Volvo emblem, although the Polestar 1 does not hide the origins of the lines, previously seen in the Volvo Coupé Concept 2013. Not forgetting, also, some of the most striking visual elements in the current models Volvo, as is the case of the luminous signature “Hammer of Thor”.

The same happens, moreover, inside the cabin, where similarities with the Volvo models are visible, the same happening at the level of the platform — it still shares a lot with the SPA, which equips, for example, the S/V90s.

Polestar 1 in carbon fiber and hybrid propulsion

The body of the Polestar 1 is made of carbon fiber. This not only reduces the total weight of the set, but also increases torsional rigidity by 45%. All this, with a weight distribution of 48% at the front and 52% at the rear.

As a propulsion system, a plug-in hybrid solution, based on a 2.0 Turbo inline four cylinders, combined with two electric motors. With the combustion engine directing power only to the front wheels, while the electric thrusters, one per wheel, are in charge of moving the rear wheels.

Together, the two propulsion systems boast a total of 600 hp of power and 1000 Nm of torque, with the Polestar 1 also being able to drive, in exclusively electric mode, up to 150 km.
