Cold Start. This sphere is the gear selector for the new Genesis GV60

If the exterior design of the Genesis GV60 , the first electric from the Korean premium brand, has given rise to some controversy, its spherical and rotary gear selector is also expected to generate some comments.

Called the “Crystal Sphere”, at first glance it appears to be nothing more than a decorative illuminated object in the center console, but is effectively the gear selector of the GV60. When it rotates on its horizontal axis, it reveals a metallic surface where we find the “P” (parking).

In this position we can select the desired ratio “R”, “N” or “D”, turning the sphere to the left or right. And we can even select the different driving modes.

The Genesis GV60, from the premium brand of the Hyundai Motor Group, uses the same base as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6, the e-GMP. Specifications for the electric crossover have not yet been advanced, but it is likely to share some with its South Korean “cousins”.

Genesis recently started its commercial activity in Europe, being available in Germany, United Kingdom and Switzerland, but counts on the expansion of the brand in the “old continent”.
