Along with the 308 and 308 SW, the renewed Peugeot 308 GTi arrives in Portugal in September. And just like the update made to the series models, the sportier variant repeats the recipe of its predecessor. Here, the goal is again to improve the driving experience, without pinching efficiency or comfort.
Developed by Peugeot Sport, the 308 GTi is 11mm closer to the ground and features a new front and rear section, with full LED lighting as standard. At the front, the new horizontally shaped hood fits into a vertical grille; further back, the two integrated tailpipes stand out.
Inside, the specific leather steering wheel with red stitching bears the GTi logo, while the bacquet-style seats with combined Alcantara leather upholstery have massage function and electric lumbar adjustment.
Standard equipment includes the Driver Sport Pack – this package includes the amplification of the engine's sound (a sportier sound), more responsive accelerator pedal, specially tuned steering, display of supplementary information on the central screen of the instrument panel, change of the instrument panel color and higher quality sound system. Added to this are the usual navigation and connectivity systems: TomTom Traffic, Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
Under the bonnet, the 1.6 THP petrol engine maintains the 270 hp and 330 Nm of the previous model – acceleration from 0-100 km/h is 6 seconds exactly.
The new Peugeot 308 GTi is also equipped with a Torsen locking differential and 19-inch wheels, mounted on Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. The braking system uses 380 mm discs at the front with red painted calipers and the Peugeot Sport signature, and 268 mm discs at the rear. Exclusive to the 308 GTi is the new color combination of the Coupe Franche version (in the pictures), associating Magnetic blue with Perla Nera black.
The Peugeot 308 GTi is only available in the five-door version and arrives in Portugal in September, starting at €42,450.
