It is the main attraction at the Genesis stand at this Detroit Motor Show. The new Genesis G80 Sport incorporates a more aggressive exterior design and a revamped cabin.

As promised, Genesis introduced the sportiest variant of its four-door saloon in Detroit, positioning itself in the South Korean brand's range just below the G90. In this version, the Genesis G80 Sport assumes itself as an alternative to the German proposals, namely the M division of BMW and Mercedes-AMG.

The sports saloon is equipped with a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 engine – the same as the Kia Stinger – capable of delivering 370 hp and 510 Nm of maximum torque, transmitted to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, which has been tuned for faster and smoother gear changes. Optionally, the G80 Sport is available with an all-wheel drive system.

For now, Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, prefers to keep the numbers relating to installments a secret from the gods. Even so, it is known that the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h should be completed in less than 5 seconds.

But the main novelty is the aesthetic renovation. On the outside, the Genesis G80 Sport incorporates a more aggressive design, with new front and rear bumpers, redesigned exhaust pipes and 19-inch wheels. Inside, carbon fiber finishes and leather sports seats stand out.

More details will be revealed closer to the release date, slated for mid-2017.
