About the R.S. Days — an initiative by Renault Sport that is covering several circuits worldwide — the Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy-R took the opportunity to declare war on records for front-wheel drive models.

After the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps, the French brand headed to Japan to claim another victim, sorry… another record.

This time, the record in question was broken in the "house of the enemy", Honda. The Renault Mégane RS Trophy-R completed the fastest lap ever for a FWD (front wheel drive) at the mythical Suzuka circuit — for the more distracted it's that circuit that has a giant wheel nearby, and where Honda made one of the most beautiful tributes ever to the best driver of all time (note: it's really worth seeing!).

The record time, set on November 26 by Laurent Hurgon — a driver who already holds several records at the wheel of several generations of the Mégane R.S. — was set by 2min 25.454s . A record three seconds faster than the previous one.

As a curiosity, please know that Japan is the main world market for Renault Sport for the R.S. range, ahead of Germany and France, and third for the Mégane R.S., even though the Trophy version has not yet been launched there.

However, 50 units are already on their way to the country of the rising sun, which is equivalent to 10% of the production of the most exclusive and radical Mégane R.S. in the range: the Trophy-R.
