Peugeot 5008 arrives in Portugal

From the previous Peugeot 5008 nothing is left, except the name. The new French model complements the rest of the SUV range of the French brand, comprising the 2008 and 3008 models. And it is precisely with this last model that the 5008 shares most of its components, differing from the 3008 by its larger dimensions and capacity to carry seven passengers.

As we said, it shares almost everything with the 3008. The EMP2 platform, the engines and even the style.

The different proportions are due to the larger dimensions, namely length (20 cm more reaching 4.64 m) and wheelbase (more 17 cm reaching 2.84 m), which allowed to accommodate a third row of seats.

Like the 3008, the 5008 also uses the second generation of the i-Cockpit, which includes a 12.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen that lets you concentrate most of the functions on a single screen, reducing the number of physical buttons.

The second row of seats features three individual, folding seats, while the third row features two independent (folding) and withdrawable seats. The boot capacity is 780 liters (five-seater configuration) – a segment record – and 1940 liters with the second row of seats folded down.

The Peugeot 5008 range in Portugal

The Peugeot 5008 in Portugal presents four engines, two transmissions and four levels of equipment.

On the Diesel side we find the 1.6 BlueHDI of 120 horsepower and the 2.0 BlueHDI of 150 and 180 horsepower. The 1.6 BlueHDI engine can be combined with a CVM6 manual or EAT6 automatic transmission, both with six speeds. The 150 hp 2.0 comes exclusively with the manual gearbox, while the 180 hp one uses only the automatic.

On the gasoline side there is only one proposal: the 1.2 PureTech turbo with 130 horsepower, which can also be associated with the two transmissions. It also differs by the number of cylinders – just three – as opposed to Diesel, which are four-cylinder units.

Allure, Active, GT Line and GT are the proposed equipment levels. The 150 horsepower 2.0 BlueHDI is only available in the GT Line level, and the GT level is exclusive, for now, to the 180 hp version.
