The A1 Sportback has grown compared to the first generation model launched in 2010. Longer 56mm, it has a total length of 4.03m. The width remained practically unchanged, at 1.74 m, while the height is situated at 1.41 m in height. The longer wheelbase and shorter distances between the center of the wheels and the front and rear ends of the bodywork promise better dynamic performance giving a more aggressive and sporty look.

The three design combinations – Base, Advanced or S line – also allow you to associate other aesthetic components.

The cabin develops around the driver. The controls and the MMI touch screen are oriented towards the driver.

Upon arrival in Portugal, the new A1 Sportback (model in competition at the Essilor/Car of the Year 2019) has three design combinations – Basic, Advanced and S line – and which can be configured with the 30 TFSI launch engine (999 cm3 , 116 hp and 200 Nm of torque) available in combination with two transmission choices: manual with six gears or automatic S tronic with seven speeds. The remaining variants will arrive at a later date: 25 TFSI (1.0 l with 95 hp), 35 TFSI (1.5 l with 150 hp) and 40 TFSI (2.0 l with 200 hp). The Audi drive select mechatronic system (option) allows users to select four distinct modes of driving characteristics: auto, dynamic, efficiency and individual.

More space for everyone

The information provided by the German brand advances that the new A1 Sportback is more spacious for the driver, front passenger and rear passengers. The luggage compartment capacity increased by 65 l. With the seats in normal position, the volume is 335 l; with the rear seats folded down, the figure increases to 1090 l.

The Audi virtual cockpit, available as an option, expands the range of functions and information that become more comprehensive and diversified, such as animated navigation maps and graphics of some driver assistance systems, all within the driver's viewing angle. Audi offers up to four annual map updates that can be automatically downloaded and installed free of charge.

Music fans have a choice of two hi-fi audio systems: the Audi sound system (series) and the premium Bang & Olufsen sound system, which tops the range. The system developed by B&O has eleven loudspeakers totaling 560 W of output power, with the possibility of selecting the 3D effect function.

Driver assistance systems

Speed ​​limiter and unintentional lane departure warning with steering correction and driver vibration alerts are some of the equipment available. Another unusual equipment in the segment of city dwellers is the Adaptive speed assist, which through radar manages to keep the distance to the vehicle immediately in front of them. For the first time, the Audi A1 Sportback receives the rear parking camera.

The Korean city's seed hit the main European markets in the summer of 2018. The three bodyworks of the i20 range are the five-door version, Coupé and Active.

By the end of May 2018, more than 760 000 units of the i20 model had been sold since its first generation.

Redesigned and developed in Europe, this model was conceived to allow for relaxed everyday use. The renewed front now features the cascading grille – the brand identity that unites all Hyundai models. With the new two-tone roof option in Phantom Black and a total of 17 possible combinations. Alloy wheels can be 15’’ and 16″.

The luggage compartment capacity is 326 l (VDA). The Red Point and Blue Point interiors, in red and blue respectively, reflect the youthful character of the i20.

The i20 lets you choose from three different petrol engines with the standard Idle Stop & Go (ISG) system.

The 1.0 T-GDI engine is available with two power levels 100 hp (74 kW) or 120 hp (88 kW). In this engine, Hyundai introduced the seven-speed dual-clutch (7DCT) gearbox developed by the brand for the B-segment. The Kappa 1.2 engine delivers 75 hp (55 kW) and is available for the five-door or 84 hp (62kW), for the five-door and Coupé versions. The third engine option is the 1.4 l petrol engine, with 100 hp (74 kW), available exclusively for the i20 Active.

Hyundai SmartSense security package

The SmartSense active safety package has been improved and has new features, including Lane Keeping (LKA) system and Emergency Autonomous Braking (FCA) system for city and intercity traffic, which seeks to avoid accidents. Driver Fatigue Alert (DAW) is another safety system that monitors driving patterns, detecting fatigue or reckless driving. To complete the package, the Korean brand has included the Automatic High Speed ​​Control (HBA) system, which automatically changes highs to lows when another vehicle approaches from the opposite direction.

Connectivity Options

The base version includes a 3.8″ screen. Alternatively, customers can opt for a 5″ monochrome screen. The 7″ color screen offers an audio system compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, when available, which allows you to mirror smartphone content on the system screen. The i20 can also receive the navigation system on a 7’’ color screen, which integrates multimedia and connectivity features, compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, when available.
