The acquisition of Pininfarina by the Indian company Mahindra could accelerate the production of a 100% electric sports model.

Pininfarina surprised the world by presenting at the last Geneva Motor Show a futuristic prototype (in the pictures) with a hydrogen engine and stunning performances – from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and 300 km/h of top speed. Now, the brand may already be working on a new electric sports car together with its parent company, Mahindra.

The Indian company is currently competing in Formula E – exclusive championship for electric models – and it seems that it will want to take advantage of the know-how of the Italian design house to transport the technology used in the competition to the road. Mahindra promises to develop a revolutionary proposal and certainly with an appealing design.

“Design is a key part of vehicle design, such that they can be robust but pollute very little while providing the thrill behind the wheel that customers crave,” explained Pravin Shah, Head of Mahindra. “With our portfolio and a world-renowned design house, in addition to Tech Mahindra's technological potential, we will be able to differentiate ourselves in the automotive industry.”
