The new BMW 8 Series hides a detail, we can say, surprising. For many BMW owners, it's not new to see the oil level, even via the on-board computer — many of their engines have dispensed with the “old” oil dipstick, resorting instead to a series of sensors.
Perhaps BMW does not want its customers, those willing to pay large tens of thousands of euros, if not more, for its models, to get their hands dirty in this simple task.
However, despite the high-end status of the Series 8, and the M850i xDrive version, its 4.4l, 530hp twin-turbo V8 (N63) brought with it… an oil dipstick.
