Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain 4x4². The name is to take it literally

In addition to the Limousine, Cabriolet, Coupé and Station, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213) range also features the All-Terrain version, which competes with the Audi (A6 Allroad) and Volvo (V90 Cross Country) proposals in the segment.

While it's the most adventurous and versatile of all, it's not truly an off-road version. Bearing in mind Mercedes-Benz's historic connection to off-road vehicles – just look at the G-Class – engineer Jürgen Eberle, involved in the development of the new generation of the E-Class, set himself a challenge: trying to create a more modern version. E-Class All-Terrain hardcore. And isn't that what you got?

In just six months, during his spare time, Jürgen Eberle managed to transform an E-Class All-Terrain into an all-terrain vehicle. Compared to the standard model, the ground clearance has more than doubled (from 160 to 420 mm), the wheel arches have been enlarged and widened, and the attack and departure angles have been improved. More plastic protections around the body and 20-inch wheels with tires up to the challenge (285/50 R20) were also added.

Despite the height to the ground, the travel of the suspensions remains limited.

In the mechanical chapter, Jürgen Eberle wanted to add more power to the All-Terrain E-Class. The solution was to opt for the 3.0 V6 petrol block with 333 hp and 480 Nm that equips the E400 versions, but is not available on the series All-Terrain.

Now, the question that arises: will Jürgen Eberle manage to convince Mercedes-Benz officials to move towards the production of this all-terrain van? According to AutoExpress, which already had the opportunity to test the E-Class All-Terrain 4×4², the responsible for the brand will have been pleasantly surprised, to the point of considering the production of a small number of units. Hell yeah!
