Audi's new technology is called “Traffic Light Information” and allows traffic lights to be recognized and timed.
How long until the light turns green? This will be one of the information that the Traffic Light Information will transmit to the driver through the instrument panel of the new Audi Q7, A4 and A4 Allroad. Using LTE technology, the system that manages traffic lights in the US connects with the car and sends this information to it. This feature represents Audi's first step in integrating the vehicle with the infrastructure in which it operates. In the future, we can envision this type of technology built into car navigation to start/stop driving and be used to help improve traffic flow. Which will translate into better overall efficiency and shorter travel times.
