The new Cabriolet is the sixth version of the current S-Class family and the first luxury four-seater cabriolet vehicle from Mercedes-Benz since 1971.
The king of luxury and the technological flagship of the brand from Stuttgart got a canvas roof and a smart climate control that according to the brand.
Mercedes-Benz even claims that this S-Class is the most comfortable cabriolet in the world, thanks to the use of various systems that guarantee the maintenance of the ideal temperature on board. This version is equipped with an improved AIRCAP automatic wind protection system; AIRSCARF neck area heating system; and climate control is fully automatic.
Like its familiar S-Class Coupé – the production vehicle with the quietest interior in the world – the S-Class Cabrio also offers excellent noise comfort thanks to a three-layer acoustic canvas hood. In terms of the structure, in general terms, the brand's engineers managed to achieve the two major goals they set themselves: to maintain torsional rigidity at values identical to those of the S-Class Coupé, and at the same time maintain an identical weight to that same model.
In the S500 version, this luxury cabriolet delivers a power of 335 kW (455 hp) and produces a maximum torque of 700 Nm from 1800 rpm, a force that is increased by the competent 9G-TRONIC automatic 9-speed gearbox. In a combined circuit (NEDC), the S500 Convertible consumes 8.5 liters of premium gasoline over a distance of 100 km, with a CO2 emission level of 199 g/km.
In a few weeks, the most powerful and sporty version will be unveiled in Frankfurt. The Mercedes-AMG S 63 4MATIC Cabriolet, which is equipped with a 5.5 liter V8 twin-turbo engine, with an output of 430 kW (585 hp) and a maximum torque of 900 Nm, standard all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC with torque splitting in greater proportion to the rear wheels, allowing an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
