With the public still digesting the technical advances of the new Mercedes S-Class, Brabus, one of the preparers specialized in the German brand, did not want to let the spirits around the Mercedes S-Class cool down.
And of course, it got down to business, in a preparation that we can at least consider a work worthy of a work of art, the Brabus Mercedes S-Class 850 Biturbo iBusiness.
But let's go by parts, and let's start with the best, the engine! We already know that Brabus never leaves its credits in the hands of others and therefore, the base of work included the 5.5 liters biturbo block of the S63 AMG. From here the magic begins, the block of the S63 AMG saw its displacement increased to 6 liters. But the amount of new components regarding this engine is so extensive that it is almost the idea that it was designed from scratch by Brabus, as the block, cylinders and heads were completely reworked, the diameter of the cylinders was increased to 99mm, a factor that allowed to use special forged pistons, the connecting rods and crankshaft also received precision calibration work.
In the supercharging chapter, Brabus opted for 2 special turbos for this model, with larger turbines and specific exhaust manifolds. With a great visual impact but with thermal efficiency reasons, the inlet manifold piping received a gold treatment in order to effectively dissipate heat. With all these changes the ECU has not been forgotten, and has been extensively tuned to meet the new specifications of the power unit.
All this mechanical work provides us with impressive values, the Brabus Mercedes S-Class 850 Biturbo iBusiness, has 850 horsepower at 5400rpm and an overwhelming peak torque of 1450Nm available only in the overboost function, with maximum torque at 1150Nm at 2500rpm, constant up to at 4500rpm. According to Brabus, this limitation was necessary to guarantee the integrity of the entire transmission. Performance from this “competition office” is something to be reckoned with with the impressive unlocked top speed of 350km/h and a start from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5s.
To curb this overwhelming performance, the Brabus Mercedes S-Class 850 Biturbo iBusiness is equipped with a carbo-ceramic braking system. The gearbox chosen to handle such “brute force” is the already famous 7-speed AMG Speedshift MCT, which can be assisted by an optional LSD, and Brabus' sport exhaust system features active butterfly-style valves that allow it to become o S-Class in a discreet car to get home with “woolen feet” or through the sport button placed on the steering wheel, announce the “end of the world” with the magnificent sound of this V8 full of vocal power.
On the outside, this Brabus Mercedes S-Class 850 Biturbo iBusiness is sober “qb”, with small stylistic touches where the front bumper and “gill” style air intakes on the side flanks are complemented by majestic 21 forged wheels inches, shod with Yokohama tires in measurements 255/30ZR21 and 295/25ZR21 stop the front and rear axle respectively. In the Brabus Mercedes S-Class 850 Biturbo iBusiness, the word luxury takes on a superlative meaning in this model, the interior is extremely sumptuous in every way and the attention to detail clearly demonstrates that Brabus does not only know how to create proposals with performance.
The interior customization work is so extensive that it is almost impossible to list all the work carried out, highlighting only the key points that make up this S-Class, the experience on board this model has a very complete infotainment system with several systems and Apple devices, such as the iPad, Mac Mini, iPod Touch and Apple TV, all controlled by an application developed from scratch, the Brabus remote App. All the functions of the COMMAND system, already known at Mercedes and which can be controlled via iPad mini for rear seat passengers.
A Brabus proposal that promises to delight any workaholic, who has a little petrolhead inside him.
