Porsche 911 Carrera S blasts official acceleration times

When Porsche released the acceleration numbers for the new 911 Carrera S , no doubt about it — even at this intermediate level, the Carrera S is a performance monster. The 100 km/h happens in just 3.7s or 3.5s if we opt for the Sport Chrono Package — the Carrera 4S still reduces these times by 0.1s — and the top speed already exceeds 300 km/h.

Impressive numbers, even though the 911 Carrera S, with just two drive wheels, is making the best possible use of its boxer six-cylinder (3000 cm3 and twin-turbo) with 450 hp of power ; the new eight-speed PDK gearbox (the only one currently available); and a weight that, despite being higher than the predecessor, is lower than the competition.

Now that the first media contacts are starting to arrive, we came across a short acceleration video by the French publication Motor Sport.

And what does the video reveal? The 911 Carrera S — let us remember with only two drive wheels —, it turned out to be much faster than the official numbers of the German brand.

In the video, the acceleration test is performed with the launch control, and never the word launch , or launch, seems to have been so well applied. The 911 Carrera S reaches 100 km/h in a mere 3.0s , 0.5s less than the official time; but the surprising value appears when reaching 200 km/h, about 10s, two seconds less than the official time of the mark (12.1s).

It's fast, really fast. Will the new Porsche 911 Carrera S suffer from the “hidden horses” syndrome?

Faster in "green hell"

If this acceleration test surprised by revealing a much stronger acceleration than what was announced, on the other hand, there are no surprises when we learned that the new 911 Carrera S (992) manages to be faster than its predecessor 991.2 on the Nürburgring .

The German brand advanced with a time of 7:25 min for the new 911 Carrera S, five seconds less than its predecessor, and just one second slower than the previous 911 Carrera GTS (991.2) and the 911 GT2 RS (997.2) — Sport Auto times.
