The Z/28, when appearing with natural aspiration, also allows the internal parts to be lightened, which together with lighter wheels, thinner 3.2mm rear windows (against the previous 3.5mm) and lighter seats with manual adjustments. 4kg, allowed to contain the weight in 136kg compared to the ZL1. Other items like a lighter battery, removed sound insulation, no Xenon headlights and optional air conditioning only complement the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28's diet.
In terms of mechanics, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has the LS7 block with 7 liters of capacity, the maximum power is figured at 505 horsepower and 637Nm of maximum torque, power that will not shame you whether on the road or circuit. Although the numbers seem nice for such cylinder capacity, it must not be forgotten that the LS7 block was properly worked and has titanium inlet valves as well as connecting rods, the exhaust valves have sodium filling for better thermal dissipation, crankshaft and support bearings forged, camshafts with a more aggressive profile and “hydroformed” exhaust manifolds, a process in which water pressure is used against the mold to form complex and more resistant parts. All complemented with a compression ratio of 11.0:1 and redline at 7000rpm, which will shock any environmentalists.
Transmission, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 features a TR6060 6-speed manual gearbox, courtesy of Tremec, and a final ratio of 3.91:1, short enough to fully exploit the torque of the massive V8. The rear axle has a self-locking differential, but the news is that unlike the latest disc coupling, the LSD of the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is old-school with mechanical locking through helical gears, however the traction control it remains the brain of operations.
Dynamically, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has a suspension made up of fully adjustable coilovers, saving 19kg to the traditional set. The 19-inch wheels are forged and come chocked with 305/30ZR19 Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires.
Aesthetically, only the aerodynamic kit stands out, which comprises more dynamic support and stability at high speeds, ideal for experiences on tracks like this one.
This Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a proposal that will tempt many fans of pure American muscle, of course it won't be cheap, but if we take into account the amount and capacity of resources that the Z/28 makes available to us, whether it's quick travel or even a track day, we have no doubts that it is a very interesting proposal.
