Toyota: more than a million vehicles called to the workshop

About 1.43 million Toyota Prius and Lexus CT200h will be called into the repair shop due to problems related to the front seat side airbags.

Toyota Motors announced that it will recall the hybrid models – Toyota Prius and Lexus CT200h- manufactured between 2008 and 2012, for presenting anomalies in the operation of the side airbags in the front seats.

The majority of affected models were sold in Japan (about 743,000 units) and North America (495,000). Europe is not safe from the recall: around 141,000 defective units were sold to several European countries.

Toyota claims that after several durability tests, it detected that small metal parts of the airbag inflator could be projected against the occupants in the event of a collision, which could compromise their safety and cause fatal injuries.

To date, there is no knowledge of any incident involving this problem with airbags.
