The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS will have the "mother" of all wings

Anonim

It's impossible not to notice her. The future Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) appears in these spy photos with a giant rear wing, as if it had been taken directly from a racing 911.

The gooseneck rear wing — as we saw on the new 911 GT3, unveiled not long ago — takes on dramatic dimensions on the new 911 GT3 RS and focuses all the attention, almost distracting us from the rest of the aerodynamic paraphernalia.

As with the current 911 GT3 RS, this one is extensive. At the front we can see two air vents over the front hood and a front bumper whose appearance is very similar to that of the 911 GT3. This joins a new front fender, which is as dramatic as the rear wing, incorporating multiple air vents (top of the fender and rear).

Also at the back, under the giant wing, we can see a new rear bumper, which keeps the exhaust outlets in the middle, just like on the 911 GT3, flanked by two air diffusers. All in all, the new 911 GT3 RS is almost guaranteed to guarantee high levels of downforce (negative support) — there are Nürburgring records to beat.

Atmospheric and not an electric motor in sight

The racecar appearance of the future Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) will be complemented, as on the current GT3 RS, by a (still) atmospheric engine and…electrons? Nor see them. It is a version of the same 4.0 l boxer six-cylinder with 510 hp that equips the new GT3, but it is anticipated that the new 911 GT3 RS may come with additional power.

However, as has always been the case, it is not the sheer horsepower that makes the 911 GT3 RS such a devastating weapon on the circuit, but rather the overall effectiveness of the package — from the engine to the aerodynamics to the chassis. In the name of this efficiency to be faster around the circuit, the only transmission available will be the PDK (double clutch automatic) — on the 911 GT3 it is possible to opt for a manual.

It remains to be seen when we will see the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992). We will either see it unveiled later this year or early 2022.
